To all staff,
re: COVID-19 –Coronavirus
We would like to take this opportunity to outline current guidance and entitlements should you be required to self-isolate or if you are diagnosed with Coronavirus.
You are to stay at home if you have coronavirus symptoms. Symptoms are:
- a high temperature
- a new, continuous cough
Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you’re staying at home. You are to follow company sickness absence reporting procedure. You can find guidance on staying at home on the NHS website.
If your symptoms worsen during home isolation or are no better after 7 days contact NHS 111 online. If you have no internet access, you should call NHS 111. For a medical emergency dial 999
Pay:
If you present with the above symptoms and choose to self-isolate but are not formally diagnosed with Coronavirus, you will need to follow absence reporting procedure. We may request to be video linked to you in order to discuss your symptoms with you. Statutory Sick Pay from day one will be assessed on a case by case basis at the company’s discretion or occupational sick pay in line with your Statement of Main Terms and Conditions of Employment, where applicable.
If you are medically advised to self-isolate but are not diagnosed with Coronavirus, you will be paid Statutory Sick Pay from day one in line with current Government guidelines or occupational sickpay in line with your Statement of Main Terms and Conditions of Employment, where applicable (*delete if not applicable).
Should absence persist for longer than 7 days, you are to obtain evidence of the medical advice you have received either from a GP or from NHS 111 who are willing to provide confirmation of their advice to individuals via email.
If you are diagnosed with Coronavirus, you will again receive Statutory Sick Pay from the first day of your absence or occupational sick pay in line with your Statement of Main Terms and Conditions of Employment, where applicable (*delete if not applicable).
If you are advised, or choose to self-isolate, but are found to have breached self-isolation guidance as per NHS and Government guidance, sick pay may be withheld, and you may be subject to disciplinary action.
